1. Policy Statement
Harrison Steel Properties Ltd is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of its employees, contractors, clients, and any other persons who may be affected by our activities.
Our aim is to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational ill-health by:
- Complying with all relevant UK health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
- Providing safe working environments for all EPC site visits and inspections.
- Implementing risk control measures to minimise hazards.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all work activities undertaken by Harrison Steel Properties Ltd, including but not limited to:
- Site visits for Non-Domestic EPC assessments
- Office-based work
- Travel to and from client premises
3. Responsibilities
Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety laws.
- Provide and maintain safe equipment and systems of work.
- Carry out and record risk assessments before starting site work.
- Provide necessary training and instruction to staff and contractors.
Employees and Contractors
- Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others.
- Follow safe working practices and use equipment correctly.
- Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately.
4. Risk Assessment & Safe Working Practices
- A risk assessment will be carried out before each site visit.
- Hazards will be identified, and appropriate control measures put in place (e.g., PPE, access arrangements).
- Work will be planned to avoid unsafe situations, particularly in high-risk environments such as construction sites or derelict buildings.
5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Where identified by a risk assessment, PPE such as safety footwear, high-visibility clothing, hard hats, gloves, or eye protection will be provided and used.
6. Incident Reporting & Emergency Procedures
- All accidents, injuries, and near misses must be reported and recorded.
- First aid arrangements will be in place during site work.
- Emergency evacuation routes and procedures will be identified and followed when visiting client premises.
7. Training & Competence
- Staff will be provided with health and safety training appropriate to their role.
- Refresher training will be given where necessary.
8. Monitoring & Review
- Health and safety performance will be monitored regularly.
- This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if there are significant changes in operations or legislation.
